Onze Kolyma Honden - Our Kolyma Dogs : Ons D-Nest - Our D-Litter

Deze combinatie was opnieuw in lijn met ons principe dat je in de fokkerij ook bereid moest zijn onverwante paringen (outcrosses) de maken. Dit om de vitaliteit te handhaven

en ook om te voorkomen dat je genetisch “teveel van hetzelfde” gaat krijgen in de totale Siberian Husky populatie. We moesten rekening houden met Alaskan’s Bonze of Anadyr’s (dam) terughoudende karakter naar mensen toe, maar Mekusak’s Iso-Annti (sire) had een door en door solide sound temperament. Wat we in deze combinatie  konden verwachten was een diversiteit in conformatie en type, in tegenstelling tot lijnteelt combinaties waar de grootouders ook belangrijk bijdragen in de nesten. Tot onze verrassing viel die diversiteit in dit nest enorm mee. Grappig waren de twee blauwogige pups. Uit zo’n dominant bruinogige lijn van beide ouderdieren verwacht je dat eigenlijk niet. Het nest had uitbundige temperamenten en borrelden over van de energie, dus het hoofddoel in deze combinatie – behoud van vitaliteit en goede temperamenten – had goed uitgewerkt.

We zegden de pups onder voorbehoud toe aan een aantal aanvragen van mushers uit Duitsland en Denemarken. We wilden ze niet laten gaan voordat we ze in het harnas gehad hadden. Een van de teefjes, Diamond, is uiteindelijk met Iso (haar Sire) mee terug gegaan naar Matti Kamilla. Matti was tevreden met haar in harnas en fokkerij.

This combination was again in line with our principle that one must be inclined to make complete out-crosses in a breeding program. This was to preserve vitality in the dogs and to avoid the possibility to get “too much of the same” genetically in the total Siberian Husky population. We had to account for Alaskan’s Bonze of Anadyr’s (dam) reserved temperament towards people, but Mekusak’s Iso-Annti (sire) had a solid, sound temperament. We expected a diversity of type and conformation in this pairing, contrary to line-bred combinations where the grandparents contribute considerably in the litters, but to our surprise, this diversity was hardly the case. The two blue eyed pups were a surprise, we were not expecting this considering the dominant brown-eyed background of both parents. The litter had very outgoing temperaments and were a quite energetic lot, so the main target – preserving vitality and good temperament – worked out well.

Although we had requests for some of our dogs from mushers in Germany and Denmark, we did not let them go before we had broken them in harness. One of the females, Diamond, went back to Matti Kamilla, the owner of Iso (her sire), where she did well in both breeding and harness.
